About Genesis Sub 2-Coach Joe Carnegie

Genesis Sub 2 Training Systems are the invention of Coach Joseph Carnegie.  Coach Carnegie was born December 24, 1965 in Hollywood, Florida.  In 1984, he graduated from Dillard High School in Fort Lauderdale, Florida and was awarded an athletic scholarship to Taft Junior College in Kern County, California. Genesis Sub 2 emerged from his training in cross country, track, football, and basketball. Coach Carnegie has used this system in winning over 500 road races and 300 track races.  Genesis Sub 2 provides a dynamic training environment which emphasizes speed endurance for improved performance. 

HIGH SCHOOL AND COLLEGE RUNNING BACKGROUND

 

Coach Carnegie was second team All Cross Country in Broward County in 1984. He earned a 16th seed out of 100 runners at Florida’s High School State Cross-Country meet and ended the race as State runner-up.

 

Coach Carnegie was Broward Country’s 800 meters & Mile champion--he ran 1:56.1 and 4:20 that year. At the state championship, he placed 4th in the mile (4:16.0) and eighth in the 800 meters (1:56.1).

 

Coach Carnegie’s high school and college times reflect his determination to improve his running performance and increase his speed endurance.  His personal records during this time include:

At 39 years old, Coach Carnegie ran a 9:19 two mile time at The Fresno Cross City Run.

 

Coach Carnegie has run under 1:10 three times at the Fresno Half Marathon.

 

Best Half Marathon times: 1.09.30 (age:30) and 1.11.20 (age:32).

 

MASTER RUNNING BACKGROUND

 

Coach Carnegie has won two US Master Indoor Championships in 2006.  One was in the 800 meters (1:56.2).  The other was while running third leg on the 2-mile relay team for ages: 40-45.

 

Coach Carnegie was also US Master Indoor National runner-up in the mile competition in 2006 (4:21 seconds) at the age of 40. 

 

In 2012, Coach Carnegie won the Ocala Marathon/5k in 16:05 seconds at 47 years old.  In 2014, he won an 800 meters open race in 2:03 seconds, ranking 4th in the United States for ages: 45-49, and 5th in the World rankings for this age group.

 

Best half marathon times: 1:16.30 in Fresno, CA (age: 45), and 1.16.15 winning the CHORD Half Marathon at the University of Florida (age: 48).
